Welcome!
The Sekthaus Raumland has been a new member of the VDP since the beginning of 2020. Raumland only produce sparkling wine in the Rheinhessen wine-growing region.

The philosophy of the house is, with all the necessary consistency, to bring the best possible to the bottle. And all in harmony with nature. Sparkling wine needs a lot of preparation and many years of planning and maturation. The classic grape varieties Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier are used in particular for the base wines. Pinot Blanc and Riesling - as typical German grape varieties - should not be missing. To ensure the high quality of the sparkling wines, they are picked by hand.

In the cellar, whole grape pressing is used, which is particularly gentle and also allows white base wines to be made from the red grapes. Whole cluster pressing reduces the yield, but increases the quality. This must results in slowly developing wines of great finesse, with subtle aromas and a good base of tartaric acid. We have mastered the great art of smelling and tasting the base wines, knowing how the sparkling wine will develop when it goes on sale years later. The second fermentation takes place in the bottle according to traditional bottle fermentation. When maturing afterwards, the sparkling wines often stay on the yeast for up to ten years. As a rule, the shipping dosage - i.e. sweetening - is dispensed with.

This Blanc de Blancs already shows an elegant complexity in the nose: in addition to citrus notes and candied lemon, there are fine hints of yeast dough. On the palate it is delicate yet well structured. This sparkling wine is reminiscent of quince and yellow apple and is joined by hints of roasted hazelnuts and nut butter. The fine Mousseux is harmoniously integrated due to the long maturation in the sparkling wine cellar. The Blanc de Blancs is carried by a playful elegance and is rounded off by wonderful brioche notes and a fine saltiness in the finish. A sparkling wine with razor-sharp precision and, despite its maturity, with stunning freshness.

The quintessence of this Chardonnay: it comes across as charming and expressive. The nose shows aromas of light stone fruit and hints of white flowers. The long yeast storage is expressed through fine notes of vanilla, caramel and freshly baked brioche. On the palate, citrus notes pair with yellow apple. There are also hints of buttered yeast braid and roasted almonds and hazelnuts. This sparkling wine shows radiant finesse and precision. Due to the long maturity in the sparkling wine cellar, the perlage is fine and beautifully integrated. This interplay is powerful and lively, with a length that is worth remembering. This combination makes it a great accompaniment to food. Whether with fresh pasta, porcini risotto or game dishes.
