The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® DOOSBERG is located on the eastern edge of the Rheingau municipality of Oestrich. The constant wind that prevails here is particularly beneficial in autumn because it dries the vines after rain and fog. This protects the grapes from fungal attack. The GL DOOSBERG is oriented south to southwest with a slope of 5 to 10 percent and is located at an altitude of 110 to 130 meters. The soils are made of carboniferous loess clay, partly with terrace sediments. The gravel bands and the slope, which is an inclined plane, allow the soil to store water well. The GL DOOSBERG is a Riesling vineyard. History: The name is derived from “Dachsberg” because badgers once liked to settle in the loamy and humus-rich soil. (Source: VDP.de)
