Vineyard

The VDP.GROSSE LAGE® LAY is located opposite the Kues district of Bernkastel, directly on the Moselle. The location faces south-south-west and is largely based on the single pile education that is often visible on the Moselle. In this way, the vines can be worked better, especially in the steeper parts of the vineyards stretching over 110 to 135 meters above sea level. In this position it goes steeply upwards with a 50 to 70 percent incline. Together with the sunshine and the nearby Moselle, which functions as a mirror here, this increases the intensity of the light - the location is warm. The floors are made of blue slate with a proportion of clay, which guarantees that the soil can hold water well. History: The word lay comes from the Celtic and means slate. (Source: VDP.de)
