Meyer-Näkel
Wine is a passionate thing about sewing. The family in the Ahr Valley has been cultivating the wine culture that was once founded here by the Romans for five generations.
In 1950 the current Meyer-Näkel winery was created through the wedding of Paula Meyer and Willibald Näkel. Although Willibald Näkel only cultivated around 1.5 hectares of vineyards, he was one of the well-known pioneers of the dry red wines that were rather unusual for the Ahr Valley at the time. His son Werner Näkel runs the approximately 15 hectare vineyard with his wife Claudia and their daughters Meike and Dörte. The winery is committed to the expansion of Pinot Noir and Pinot Noir, which traditionally grow here in the steep, slate vineyards of the Middle Ages. The aim is to consistently strive for quality mineral, fruity and characterful Burgundy with an elegant tannin structure. Passion and uncompromising quality awareness are the basis for working in this estate. His philosophy is to preserve the specialty of the slate floor in the wines and to bring them to bear optimally.
