Grape variety Sauvignon Blanc
Origin: Sauvignon Blanc originally comes from France, more precisely from the Loire region. Today, however, the grape variety is cultivated in many countries, including Chile, Argentina, New Zealand, Australia, USA and South Africa.
Palate: Sauvignon Blanc is a fresh, lively wine with powerful aromas of grass, green apples, gooseberries and citrus. It also often has a mineral note.
Style: Often produced in a young, fresh style, Sauvignon Blanc is ideal as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to light dishes such as seafood, salads and goat's cheese.
Characteristics of Sauvignon Blanc in Germany:
Origin: Sauvignon Blanc was introduced to Germany in the 1990s and is now grown in various regions including the Palatinate, Baden and Rheinhessen.
Taste: German Sauvignon Blancs often have aromas of green apples, grapefruit and peach, as well as a light, mineral note. However, compared to international styles, the taste can be a little more subtle. Style: German Sauvignon Blancs are often produced in a dry style and work well as an accompaniment to light dishes such as asparagus and fish. Some German winemakers also produce barrel-aged Sauvignon Blancs, adding complexity and depth to the wine.
