The Brauneberg is one of the most famous vineyards on the Moselle and enjoys a worldwide reputation. The name Juffer is derived from the former property of a nunnery that had extensive properties there. The single layer Juffer-Sonnenuhr encompasses the heart of the mountain, where the best parcels are located in the middle of rocks around a sundial. The Brauneberg with a gradient of up to 80% lies in a southern exposure parallel to the course of the river. The soil consists of blue-gray Devonian slate with a very high proportion of stone, as well as inclusions of iron minerals, which make the mountain appear brown in winter.Hence the name: Brauneberg. The ownership share of our winery in Brauneberg goes back to the year 1643; the purchase of a plot of land is documented by a sales contract dated April 17, 1643. The wines of the Brauneberg impress with their elegance and the clearly defined aromas of citrus fruits, white peaches and ripe yellow fruits.
