Wine-growing area

Land of the Trollinger - the wine stays in the village - ever better qualities and styles.

The approximately 11,500 hectare cultivation area, which is planted with approximately 2,500 hectares of Trollinger, manages 144 individual sites and comes with 4 areas, the largest area is the Württemberg lowlands, the Kocher-Jagst-Tauber area, which focuses on white wine production, and the areas Upper Neckar, Bavarian Lake Constance and Württemberg Lake Constance.

Per capita wine consumption in Württemberg should be twice as high as the national average and around 80% of the products are also consumed there. How nice that there are still 20% left over. In addition to Trollinger, we find the grape varieties Riesling, Schwarzriesling, Lemberger, Pinot Noir and Müller-Thurgau.

The vineyards are particularly protected by the Neckar valley, and by the Black Forest and the Swabian Alb. The vines are rooted on Muschelkalk and Keuper.

The Neckar is the main artery of the Württemberg wine-growing region. It takes its way on two hundred and fifty kilometers of river, past the Jura layers of the Swabian Alb, touches the Keuperland near Stuttgart and cuts its way north in deep turns through the shell limestone. Together with his helpers, the tributaries Kocher, Jagst, Murr, Enz and Rems, he has shaped today's vineyards into an unmistakable and yet so varied wine landscape over the course of many millions of years , the deposits of a primeval sea. On the Rems, in the Bottwartal, on the Stromberg and in the Zabergäu, near Heilbronn and in Hohenlohe, it is above all the layers of the gypsum keuper and the colored marl with their large natural supply of minerals and nutrients that give this landscape its fertility. In the narrow bends of the central Neckar valley and on Enz, Jagst and Kocher, however, the fossil-rich shell limestone emerges on steep slopes. Narrow terraced vineyards, supported by heat-storing natural stone walls, bear witness to the centuries-old winemaking tradition of Württemberg.
