After eleven months of aging in old oak barrels and half-barrels, the wine reveals itself as incredibly powerful, mineral, and with a robust structure. Complex on the palate with aromas of spicy red apple, juicy citrus fruit, and lively structure. The finish offers a delicate spiciness and subtle heat. A wine that can develop for many years.
The south-facing, steep vineyard "Nonnenberg" is characterized by deep, gravelly phyllite soils that transition into loess loam on the lower slopes. The name derives from the nuns of Tiefenthal Abbey, who owned this slope and its buildings. The five-hectare vineyard is solely owned and planted with vines, some of which are over 70 years old.
