wine description

SOMMELIERS MONTRACHET | Riedel

Sommeliers Montrachet
Montrachet is the wine-growing region of Burgundy, from which the finest and most expensive dry white wines in the world come. Microclimate, soil conditions and the location of this vineyard, combined with the Chardonnay grape variety and its classic aging method, have established the fame of these great wines for centuries. These are monumental, complex, dense wines paired with high alcohol content and moderate acidity. The large, round, bulbous shape of the glass with its wide opening directs the drink primarily to the sour-tasting edge of the tongue, thereby emphasizing the acidity of the wine, which gains in class and expression. The luscious fruit of the late-harvest wines, the sweet toasty aromas from the wood in which the wine is aged, merge into harmony. The large volume of this glass gives the full bouquet the space to show its diversity and thus appear dense but not overly concentrated and one-dimensional.
