Riesling is a versatile grape variety that is grown in many different wine-growing regions including Germany, France, Australia, New Zealand and North America. The plot is located on the banks of the Rhine and faces south with a slight slope.
The soil is calcareous, sandy loess, partly interspersed with terrace sediments and rocks of the Alzey Formation (marine sand).
The vines are 45 to 65 years old and are therefore the oldest in our stock. They only produce a few, small-berry grapes with complex, intense aromas.
The river directly shapes the climate: it is like a temperature moderator. The constant air circulation compensates for peaks in cold and heat.
In addition, the reflection of the sun's rays on the water surface brings a radiation quality that is particularly beneficial for aroma development.
