Dr. Hermann
The Riesling winery Dr. Hermann with over 6.5 hectares of vineyards is led by Christian Hermann. Viticulture has been a tradition in the Hermann family for several centuries.
Today's winery was established in 1967 through the inheritance of the renowned Joh. Jos. Christoffel Erben in Ürzig. In the course of time, the vineyard property grew steadily. The production facility was relocated from Ürzig to Erden with the construction of a spacious and contemporary cellar.
The focus is on Riesling cultivation on steep slopes. Almost all of the vineyards are located in the famous Erdener Prälat, Ürziger Würzgarten and Erdener Treppchen locations and are planted exclusively with real Riesling vines that produce the finest Riesling wines.
Quality begins in the vineyard. Cautious pruning and the associated yield limitation as well as nature-loving care of the vineyard soils and the selective grape harvest by hand are the guarantees that great wines are created that are characterized by a unique abundance of aromas. Several selective harvesting passes enable the production of high-quality late and Auslese as well as berry and dry berries.
After a slow fermentation process of approx. 6 to 12 weeks in stainless steel tanks, the wines mature on the fine yeast without any oxygen supply. (Source: Weingut Dr. Hermann)
