Bernhard Huber

Over 700 years ago, Cistercian monks brought Pinot Noir to Malterdingen. The monks' estate, called "curia", was then in the Mönchhofmatten district, where the Huber winery is still located today. In Malterdingen the monks encountered the same terroir, the "shell limestone weathered soil", as in Burgundy. And they brought with them the high school of winemaking. In grape variety books and various wine encyclopedias, the term "Pinot Noir" and "Malterdinger" are still synonymous with Pinot Noir.

Bernhard Huber's philosophy is to allow all wines to ferment through and to allow them a long storage time on the yeast. This means that almost exclusively dry wines are produced.
