Alfred Merkelbach
The Alfred Merkelbach winery is a traditional winery in Ürzig on the Moselle that has existed since 1867.Excellent, very steep vineyards in the Rotlegen of the Ürziger Würzgarten and gray slate in the Kinheimer Rosenberg with many old, true-root vines are a guarantee of quality and individuality and have been since 1867. The brothers Rolf and Alfred Merkelbach ran the winery for many decades and were known for their classic, delicate Riesling style. After their deaths - Rolf died in October 2023 and Alfred in May 2024 - the Selbach family took over responsibility for the winery in order to continue the cultural heritage and the typically time-honored style of the Merkelbachs. It was always a pleasure for us to meet the humble brothers and attend tastings in their home in Ürzig.
