wine description

2013 Chardonnay - Réserve | brut | Raumland | Magnum

2013 was characterized by cool weather with little sun. In southern Wonnegau, we were spared heavy rainfall thanks to the protection of the Donnersberg. We were surprised by a golden September with late ripening of the grapes. A combination of careful teamwork in the vineyard, the power of old vines, the favorable weather in southern Wonnegau, and a handful of luck allow us to summarize: we are incredibly proud of the result of the 2013 vintage, which can be felt and tasted today in our Réserve sparkling wines . With good reason we have now waited more than 8 years to be able to present these sparkling wines at their peak. When tasting it becomes clear: these sparkling wines will be able to mature for many more years. (Source: Raumland)

The smell reveals notes of ripe fruits such as banana, mirabelle plum and honeydew melon. A certain minerality skilfully accompanies the fruity-floral main note. They ensure a juicy, lively start. The long yeast storage is expressed through fine notes of bourbon vanilla and fresh bread. A mild but present acidity can be felt on the palate, which gives the sparkling wine a lively freshness. It also shows a certain saltiness. The perlage is fine and yet present for a long time. Our limestone soils give this sparkling wine its complexity and powerful structure. The small dosage makes it an exciting accompaniment to food, suitable for example with a classic Wiener Schnitzel or hummus and smoked tofu. This vintage sparkling wine has all the prerequisites for being able to mature for many more years under optimal storage conditions.
