wine description

2022 JESUITENGARTEN Riesling GG

VDP.GROSSE LAGE®: 2022 Forst JESUITENGARTEN Riesling GROSSES GEWÄCHS | dry

Located on the outskirts of Forst, in the immediate vicinity of KIRCHENSTÜCK and UNGEHEUER, the JESUITENGARTEN is one of the best wine locations in the Palatinate due to its extremely high mineral content. The location is famous for its fine and elegant wines with a high level of complexity. The name goes back to the properties of the former Jesuit monastery in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse. In 1793 the Jordan family bought the vineyard. Our plot, which is located in the original part of the Jesuit Garden, was selectively harvested in several rounds in order to only obtain perfectly ripe grapes. These were gently pressed and vinified separately from each other. 50% were aged in traditional barrels, the rest in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, both parts were left on the yeast until filling. Finely contoured aromas with herbal, ethereal notes combined with a certain smokiness meet here in the nose. With a little air, the fruity components become more important and aromas of stone fruit and exotic fruits become more apparent. Very sparse and firm on the palate with a fine tannin and acid structure. A wine with a lot of power and power, which will only show its full potential in a few years and until then requires some patience.

When it comes to food combinations, the acidity of this GG allows it to be combined with hearty sauces and dark meat, but exotic dishes with ginger and lime are also well accompanied by the JESUITENGARTEN GG.
